The international jury has made its selection and 70 designers and 10 collectives will have the opportunity to present their works to a dynamic audience at the 17th edition of AUTOR Contemporary Jewelry Fair at National Theatre Bucharest on 5 and 6 May 2018.
We had entries from hundreds of very talented contemporary and art jewelry designers from five continents, all proposing innovative, personal projects, making the jury’s task complex and very challenging. The members of this edition’s jury bring together acclaimed artistic excellence doubled with managerial, curating and academic experience:
Sofia Björkman – jewelry artist and founder of Gallery Platina in Stockholm
Ruudt Peters – jewelry artist and professor, Amsterdam
Felix Flury – gold and silversmith, professor and founder of Gallery S O, Solothurn, Switzerland and London, UK
Dan Pierșinaru – visual artist and founder and director of AUTOR
In selecting the artists that will be part of AUTOR 2018 the jury looked for a mix of ingredients that differentiates and elevates jewelry creations into the realm of art: a designer’s capacity to propose an original yet deeply personal vision, to surprise, to challenge contexts and ideas, distilling all this into jewelry made with exceptional, innovative techniques.
This year’s selection invites the visitors to a journey that mirrors the one of the artists: from a strong desire to reveal an authentic inner universe, through carefully chosen materials, even making a statement with recycled ones, to curiosity for symbols and old legends reinterpreted in a contemporary manner, a return to our roots which propels us into a new dimension of self-expression.
We promise that there is a lot to look forward to, so mark the dates in your calendars and join us on 5 and 6 May at the National Theatre in Bucharest to discover the fascinating world of AUTOR. And in the meantime, follow us on social media for new and more Jewelry in ACTion.
