On 10 and 11 October, lovers of contemporary jewellery are invited to AUTOR Cluj Edition – a pop-up event organised by the AUTOR jewelry fair.
For the second time around, AUTOR is returning to Cluj-Napoca. Why Cluj, of all places? Firstly, because of the history that jewelry shares with the city.
The Goldsmiths’ Guild of Cluj-Napoca was one of the most influential craft communities in the Middle Ages. Like all goldsmiths in Europe at that time, the craftsmen of Cluj travelled between countries to learn, exchange techniques and bring home new forms and ideas. In turn, they would invite and host foreign craftsmen in their workshops.
Just like the travelling craftsmen of the past, AUTOR invites contemporary jewellery designers from countries such as England, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia and Ukraine to the heart of Transylvania to present their collections, practices and perspectives. It invites jewelry and craft enthusiasts to, in turn, discover, purchase and carry these pieces forward on their own journey.
AUTOR Cluj Edition is a pop-up event that complements the programme of the Transylvania Jewellery Festival – an already well-established event on the city’s creative and cultural scene – by adding a jewelry fair component to the exhibitions, presentations and artistic interventions. This way, AUTOR offers the Cluj public a unique experience in the region: that of purchasing contemporary jewelry directly from their international creators.
