An Architecture graduate and master in Design and Architecture, I discovered my passion for jewelry design a few years ago, though I’ve always been attracted by jewelry, especially in a visual way. Afterwords, I realised that there is a great connection with architecture, with only a change in scale, I think of jewelry as micro-arhitecture that allows you to explore forms in a more daring manner. I have a passion for everything design and art related and my influences come mainly from this areas with a great contribution from my imagination that filters and alters information according to inspiration and mood.
I can say that 2013 was a turning point in my life, that’s when I followed a basic training course at Assamblage Contemporary Jewelry School and realised that this is what I want to do and so, in April 2015, Malute was born.
What are the main concepts translated through your work?
This collection is very personal, intimate and it focuses on identity and the creative process. It all starts from the idea that when you create something you put a part of yourself into it and, naturally, it was continued by another thought: that what you put into your creations must be specific to yourself, and that is how it evolved into the identity concept.
What material would you like to get to work with but haven’t had the chance yet?
I would love to experiment with unconventional materials in general; I like the idea of using basic materials and taking them to another level through transformation and by incorporating them into an art object.
How would you describe the person wearing your jewellery?
The person wearing the Malute brand has a free mind, is creative and knows his/her style very well, and is not afraid to take risks.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
It’s an advice I have given myself, a sort of a mantra: to stick to my own way.
If you were to be a piece of jewellery, what would you be?
I would be a piece of jewellery worn every day, that you never give away and it becomes one with the person wearing it, it lives in symbiosis with the wearer.
