I am a contemporary jewellery designer from India, currently based in the United Kingdom.
As a designer, my passion lies in exploring the intersection of culture, heritage, and contemporary sensibilities, with a strong focus on sustainability and ethical production. I enjoy experimenting with new materials and techniques and seeking innovative ways to encourage the jewellery industry to adopt sustainable practices.
For my MA graduation project at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, I explored how natural materials like bamboo and cane can be combined with metal, blending sustainable and traditional materials in jewellery design.

Having had the opportunity to travel and explore various regions and cultures, I draw significant inspiration from my Indian heritage, which I consider a crucial part of shaping my interest and values in design. My design language leans towards merging the ethics and values of traditional techniques with modern technology to create wearable sculptural forms.

Following my passion for art and design, my connection to jewellery has evolved into something multifaceted. I believe jewellery is a reflection of one's identity, with the power to tell stories that connect the past and the present. It is an amalgamation of stories and techniques that have evolved over many years and continue to do so today.

I aspire to further explore contemporary sculptural jewellery as tangible memories that carry tradition, heritage, and creativity. Drawing inspiration from my culture, heritage, and crafts, I aim to reinvent these elements into contemporary forms while also exploring sustainable, eco-friendly options in jewellery.

Collection details
Name of the collection:
Sculptured Weave

Description of the collection:

An amalgamation of traditional techniques and contemporary forms, Sculptured Weave explores the bamboo and cane craft of India, celebrating its cultural identity, exquisite patterns and techniques, and reinventing this tradition to bring a piece of traditional India into contemporary form.

In a globalised, multicultural world, the collection seeks to celebrate the ideals and significance of traditional approaches and their potential for fusion with modern technology through the use of eco-friendly materials and ethical production.
The collection focuses on bamboo and cane, combining artisans' traditional handcrafting skills with modern manufacturing techniques to create a contrast, presenting a collection that is architectural and structured, with a softer organic feel to it.
In line with its sustainable ethos, it uses organic, Azo-free dyes that are safer for both the craftspeople and the environment. Bold sculptural forms, inspired by tensions and joints in architectural structures, sculptures, and installations, impart a sense of movement within the jewellery pieces.

Sculptured Weave aims to connect with eco-conscious wearers on the values of eco-friendly materials, artisanal crafts, and craft community upliftment.
Designed as a tangible memory and reflection of Indian heritage and creativity, it conveys this sentiment through the movement created by the patterns of lines and connections formed from bamboo and cane. These patterns link the past and the present, embodying tradition, heritage, values, and the stories that have shaped this craft.
