If we estimated the rate of usage of the following words this weekend, “design”, “jewelry”, “contemporary” and “Autor” we would get impressive numbers. The Autor contemporary jewelry fair lasted two intense days.
Over 60 contemporary jewelry creators were present, 20 of them being international artists. 3 000 people visited us to discover and wear contemporary jewelry. Hundreds of friends sustained us and told our story to the world. Our focus designer, Doru Dumitrescu, received his guests for breakfast (as the photos show). Thousands of photos have been taken, and our friends Lenor&Ariel prepared a colorful, nicely scented, stand-up area, where photos of freshly purchased pieces of jewelry were instantly printed for the impatient visitors.
We chose a minimalist, nonconformist stand design. We used “raw” EcoSupreme pallets to build the stands in order to highlight the real stars of this fair: the jewelry.
Parents were also happy, to see their children in the “Kids creative room”, a space designed by Isprava. Our friends from Antalis helped us transform the photo banner area into a real playground for grownups. Our photo selection worth 1000 words…
The Autor magazine made a lot of friends. The yellow covered first number of the first Romanian contemporary jewelry magazine, carefully set into the tote bag, witnessed their presence at Autor fair for almost all our visitors.
The grand première of this Autor edition were the five design awards granted.
And the winners are… The AAA (Autor Awesome Award): Romana Țopescu – she is thus the fresh student of a two weeks intensive course at the Alchimia School of Contemporary Jewelry in Florence (Italy). The MNAC award goes to Otilia Mihalcea, alias Oval. One of her creations was chosen by Liviana Dan, Director ad-interim of the National Contemporary Art Museum (MNAC). The Oval piece, a representation of the wave length of each color in the solar spectrum, according to this Autor edition’s theme – color – will be a part of the MNAC permanent collection.
The Assemblage Award goes to Lidia Puica, who is hence preparing to give lectures at the first Romanian contemporary jewelry school. The ELLE Award goes to Kuki Constantinescu’s magazine stylists – so Kuki will make the ELLE editorial in July. Last but not least, the Joya award goes to Steffi Götze (Germany), who is going to participate at the Joya Barcelona contemporary jewelry fair.
A colorful intense weekend, full of beautiful, creative people, fresh ideas, good meetings and authentic contemporary jewelry! See you in autumn: Autor 12!
