I am a contemporary jewellery designer maker based in Essex who is originally from Sri Lanka. I have been living in England since 1986. I am a single parent and spent the most my time looking after my children. During this time I became a pre school teacher and I did this as my profession for 12 years. When my children were older I wanted to follow my dreams and do something for myself, I went to the local college and did a Art and Design diploma. Then to further my knowledge and understanding of jewellery designing I went on to study at the University at Hertfordshire and The London Metropolitan University where I achieved a BA hons degree in Applied Arts. During my time at London Met I achieved the Goldsmith of the year award. In 2020 I started by business Shirani Jewellery and have been lucky enough to win a Goldsmith award from The Goldsmith company in 2024, The Modern maker award by Bizbubble 2024 and the Prestigious award for south east small business’. I showcase my work at the Forge Gallery in London and my jewellery has been chosen to be exhibited at the Spotlight Exhibition in the Goldsmith centre. I have my own website which will soon be a selling platform as well as this I sell on Etsy and Find a maker. I have a Instagram page where I often post my pieces and the making process. My creative vision is to create a variety of wearable art pieces from everyday wear to statement jewellery. I believe that jewellery design whether it be for everyday or for a special occasion, should catch the eye. My pieces are inspired by three dimensional shapes created by manipulating metals into beautiful forms.

Collection details
Name of the collection:
Light and Shadows

Description of the collection:

Light and Shadows collection merges architectural inspiration with fine craftsmanship, focusing on colour, texture, and three dimensionality. My collection draws on the intricate patterns of window panels from my native Sri Lanka and from my global travels, reimagining these designs into striking 3D pieces. By blending traditional hammering techniques with digital methods, I create jewellery that captures the interplay of light and shadow within urban spaces. The contrast of vibrant colours with textured surfaces is a hallmark of my work, resulting in wearable art that reflects the dynamic structures and forms found in the world's cities.

Light and Shadows Collection is the outcome of bringing architecture and jewellery together.
My aim is to create bold and intricate innovative designs blurring the boundaries of traditional jewellery by combining traditional and digital techniques to create wearable art jewellery inspired by architecture for the wearer to stand out from the crowd.
