AUTOR 14: The autumn edition

7 – 8 november 2015, BUCHAREST, ROMANIA

 

The International Jewelry Fair AUTOR is the most important event in this field in South-Eastern Europe. The biannual event aims to create a dynamic environment with high selection standards. The participants to Autor are offered access to an exquisite and attractive clientele. Autor is an active platform that encourages and creates a dialogue between designers and their public: consumers, collectors, galleries, distributors, specialized media.

Who is eligible to participate at Autor:
• jewelry professionals
• artists from creative fields who create contemporary jewelry
• contemporary jewelry galleries
• contemporary jewelry schools from all over the world – any country or nationality.

The selection process:
An international jury will select the designers participating in AUTOR 14, based on the following general criteria:
• originality
• innovative use of materials and techniques
• concept
• compliance with the contemporary jewellery principles
• coherence/unity of the work

The jury consists of:
Doris Maninger – Director of Alchimia jewelry school in Florence
, Lucia Massei – Director of Alchimia jewelry school in Florence, 
Ruudt Peters – Artist Professor Opere summer school in Netherlands, Paulo Ribeiro – Founder and Director of Joya Barcelona, 
Dan Piersinaru – Founder and Director of Autor.
Application Requirements:
For applying to AUTOR 14, the following should be sent to this e-mail address: hello@dautor.ro:
1. Pictures of a minimum 5 pieces of new contemporary jewelry
(size: 350 KB, format: JPG; jewelry in their final form, preferably neutral background or contextualized on human body).
2. Short description of the concept (max 15 lines)
3. Short bio/CV, that must include:
• the name he/she wishes to present to the public
• e-mail address
• phone number
• website or Facebook page.

Deadline for applications is:

14TH of September 2015.

The results of the selection will be announced after the 21st of September.


Support for participants:
Besides creating a dynamic hub for contemporary jewelry artists and public, AUTOR is actively trying to support and encourage talented jewelry creators through various sections and activities:

AAA (Autor Awesome Award): during the fair, an international jury consisting of experts in the artistic visual field will analyze all collections and will award the AAA designer prize to the designer whose jewelry pieces are considered the most impressive. The prize is designed to help the winner develop his/her jeweler career. The last three prizes were offered by the famous schools as Alchimia and Le Arti Orafe, both from Florence, Italy. the winners were: Alina Carp, Romana Țopescu, Alis Lalu and, the most recent one, Ioana Ardelean.

Joya Barcelona Award – consists of direct entrance and free of charge participation at the 2015 edition of the fair. Previous winners: Doru Dumitrescu, Alina Carp (Romania), Steffi Goetze (Germany), Marie-Eve G. Castonguay (Canada).

Assamblage School Award – The only contemporary jewelry school in Bucharest is offering a jewelry course to a talented young designer. Previous winners: Lidia Puica (România), Katerina Serbezova (Bulgaria), Eme by Mea Batis&Nuša Bernot (Slovacia).

Krama Award – the newest of our prizes, recently established at the spring edition, is a jewelry course at Krama Institute of Contemporary Jewellery in Athens. The first winner was Romana Țopescu from Romania.

ELLE Award – Elle fashion editors choose a designer to whom they dedicate an article in the next issue of the most visible and sold fashion magazine in Romania. Previous winners are Kuki Constantinescu from Sweden, Andra Lupu and Adelina Petcan from Romania.

AUTOR Magazine  – Launched in 2013 at the 10th edition of Autor fair, AUTOR Magazine is a specialized jewelry magazine that approaches subjects related to contemporary jewelry. Being the first magazine of contemporary jewelry in Romania, AUTOR Contemporary Jewelry Magazine is a facilitator that promotes contemporary jewelry designers.

“Recommended by…” section: This section helps designers who takes part in Autor to enhance their portfolios. A well-known person from the visual art area makes his/her own selection of jewelry pieces displayed at Autor fair.These jewelry are formally acknowledged through a “Recommended by…” badge.
