New collaboration, new awards. As an active platform we constantly try to encourage and to support new artists. We try to give them access to a new experience and to make them more visible to the interested public. 2018 was by far our most prodigious year in terms of given awards to new names in contemporary jewelry field.
Art Jewelry Night of Budapest and AUTOR join their forces for the first time to promote and support contemporary jewelry and some fresh, up and coming artists on the spot. Szilágyi Sapi is the lucky winner of AUTOR Award @ Ékszerek Éjszakája (Art Jewelry Night) – a promising new event in contemporary jewelry that brought together 42 exhibitions in three days.
A new collaboration started last year between AUTOR and Central Saint Martins. We have chosen for AUTOR Award X CSM the newly graduate Yuzhuo Fu, with a collection inspired by the ZEN spirit and Chinese Gongbi paintings. She presented an extremely sensitive and poetic collection, that recreates the connection between nature and human body. Yuzhuo was extremely happy and enthusiastic about receiving the award and we are excited and looking forward to having her at AUTOR Fair, in 20-21 April.
AUTOR went to JOYA Barcelona Art Jewellery & Objects to pick out the winner that will join the fair this April. It was the fifth AUTOR Award at JOYA and this time it went to Nam-Kyung Lee from South Korea. Her work describes the relationship between places and memories and reconstructs people’s unconscious memories of various places into forms of jewelry. Nam-Kyung we are really excited to welcome you at AUTOR Fair 2019!
Her collection seems to have a life of its own, changing shapes and colors. And being so alive is also what got Elli Xippa the AUTOR Award at Athens Jewelry Week 2018. This means, she will be with us as our special guest at AUTOR Fair 2019.
AUTOR Award at Artistar Jewels went to Hiyu Hamasaki. A young and talented artist with a lovely presence, who came directly from Tokyo, Japan to present his art collection to the Romanian public. What a joy!
