AUTOR is a story imagined and built by passionate people, who inspire through courage and creativity. We want you to discover all the AUTOR people and let them stimulate you with their story and their creations.

Born in Italy and passionate for British language and culture, Letizia Maggio, has a degree in English language and literature and designed her first collection of modern, unconventional jewelry in the 1990s. After attending many ceramic courses with well known studio potters, Letizia has chosen porcelain and silver or gold as materials for her elegant, delicate and impressive contemporary jewels. Her work is to be found in galleries in Italy and abroad.
What are the main concepts translated through your work?
The idea in my work is that of leading people to make a pause and appreciate simplicity, delicacy, lightness rather than redundancy. Also, most jewels of mine are made of small elements, repeated and joined to each other, thus conveying the idea that what makes a piece of jewelry precious is the time that has been dedicated to the making process. Time is precious then.
What material would you like to get to work with but haven’t had the chance yet?
I still want to experiment with porcelain, but I would also like to work with brass and concrete.
How would you describe the person wearing your jewellery?
The person wearing my jewels is curious, passionate about architecture, and also sensitive but with a good sense of humour.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Practice and experience to your satisfaction.
If you were to be a piece of jewellery, what would you be?
I would be a long, beaded necklace, the kind of necklace one caresses while making eye contact with a person who matters.
