The application and the selection process for AUTOR Contemporary Jewelry Fair, #12 edition/2014

Autor is an active platform which encourages and creates a dialogue between designers and their public: consumers, distributors, specialized media.
The Jewelry Fair AUTOR is one of the most important ones in Eastern Europe. The biannual event aims to create a dynamic environment with high selection standards. The participants to Autor are offered the acces to a sellect and atractive clientelle.
Selection process
Who is eligible to participate at Autor:
jewelry professionals, artists from creative fields who create contemporary jewelry, galleries of contemporary jewelry, contemporary jewelry schools from all over the world – any country or nationality.
An international jury will select the designers participating in Autor 12, based on the following general criteria: the principles chosen concept for jewelry, originality, innovative use of materials and techniques.
The jury consists of:
Doris Maninger – Director of Alchemy jewelry school in Florence
Lucia Massei – Director of Alchemy jewelry school in Florence
Paulo Ribeiro – Founder and Director of Joya Barcelona
Christian Hoedl – Designer and curator based in Munich
Dan Piersinaru – Founder and Director of Autor
Application Requirements
1. The designer will send pictures representing 5 new contemporary jewelry pieces that sustain a personal concept.
The jewelry photos (350KB/JPG format) will be presented in their final form, simple and clear (preferably neutral background or contextualized on human body).
The designer will send a text with a description of the concept of the collection that includes the 5 pieces of jewelry.
2. The designer will send a brief biography : the designer name he/she wishes to present to the public, e-mail address, phone number, website or Facebook page.
GENERAL INFO & DEADLINES:
The NEW ENTRY section is dedicated to those who participate for the first time at Autor.

Participation fee for designers: 245 euro.
Deadline for applications is extended until : 20th of September 2014.
Autor will announce the results of selection after 30th September, 2014.
Note:
Autor does not assume any responsibility for any damage, loss or theft at the event. Each participant is responsible for his jewelry stand during the fair. During the event, Autor will take pictures of displayed jewelry that will be used for promotional purposes.
Support for artists:
Besides creating a dynamic hub for contemporary jewelry artists and public, AUTOR is actively trying to support and encourage talented creators through various sections and activities:
AAA (Autor Awesome Award): during the fair, an international jury consisting of experts in the artistic visual field will analyze all jewelry and will award the AAA designer prize to the designer whose jewelry pieces are considered the most impressive. The prize is designed to help the winner develop his/her jeweler career. For example, Alina Carp – winner of the 10th edition won a 3 months scholarship at the prestigious contemporary jewelry school Orafi Le Arti in Florence.
AUTOR #11 prize consisted of a two-week course at the renowned School of Alchemy from Florence. The winner was Romana Topescu.

AUTOR Magazine
Launched at the 10th edition of Autor fair, Autor Magazine is a specialized jewelry magazine that approaches subjects related to contemporary jewelry. Being the first magazine of contemporary jewelry in Romania, Autor Contemporary Jewelry Magazine is a facilitator that promotes contemporary jewelry designers.
New Entry Section: Autor encourages and promotes the participation of new talented designers who have the needed profile for the “New Entry” section; this creates direct and implicit contact with consumers of contemporary jewelry.
Focus Designer Section: a renowned designer is invited to have a presentation in a larger format and with broader exposure.
“Recommended by…” section: This section helps designers who takes part in Autor to enhance their portfolios. A well-known person from the visual art area makes his/her own selection of jewelry pieces displayed at Autor fair.These jewelry are formally acknowledged through a “Recommended by…” badge. At the 10th edition of Autor fair, the recommendations were made by the wellknown fashion designer Maria Lucia Hohan, and, at the 9th edition, the special guest for this section was Doina Levintza.
